The Tricks to Booties

Fall is under way and so are boots; Ankle boots,  or booties, to be exact. The nifty little shoes are perfect for almost any occasion. The trick is how they are worn. The wrong way can lead to disaster and you can appear cut-off or can give the illusion of bigger ankles. Although, if you wear them right they are a force to be reckoned with. Booties come in just about every style available; clasps, buckles, ties, straps, wedge, heel, flat, loose, tight. You name it you could probably find a bootie that matches and makes your outfit!

Now is where the fun begins. Very important:  There is right and wrong way to wear a bootie! The looks can vary but one thing is for sure if you follow these few tips and tricks you’ll catch the eye of everyone as you walk down the sidewalk rocking your own booties.

Leggings, leggings, and more leggings. The simple pant has been just as much of a trend as the booties this year. The beauty of both is they are comfortable and fashionable. Leggings are great because they are easy to tuck into shoes and not only slims but lengthens your legs. Pairing a great leggings with a bootie will make a casual day outfit. Switch up the bootie and the look can work for multiple occasions.

Classic jeans. When wearing jeans with booties it is best to leave a bit of skin exposed between the boot and the hem line. Just rolling the cuff of your jeans a few times or pulling them up for a larger, 2-3 inch cuff will do wonders. You can also give a more relaxed impression by only doing a half-cuff. Skinny jeans work best for this particular look.

Socks? Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t, but a surefire way to rock the sock look is by pairing them with the all powerful leggings again, and of course, our friend the bootie. Cozy and comfortable is the name of the game and still look fashionable. The thing to remember with socks is not to create extra bulk around the ankle. Keep the material thin and try to avoid knee high socks. Wearing them over jeans is a big no because it will only cause problems and make your ankles look a few times bigger than they already are which (of course) is the opposite of what you want.

Did someone say dresses? Yes, dresses are another great option for booties. The key (besides wearing the cutest dress possible) is to have the hem of the dress above the knee so you can maximize your leg length. Skirts can be the same; pairing an A-line or pencil skirt with the booties is another great option to try.
