The Modern Jackie O

The Jackie O – a fashion era so strong it has carried through fashion overhauls time and time again. Elegance and simplicity was key for Mrs. Kennedy’s style. Thrown into the public’s eye with her husband John F. Kennedy’s presidential election; Mrs. Kennedy took everyone for a loop with her outstanding fashion sense. Her more natural approach to makeup , large sunglasses, and three strand pearls was a complete 180 from the over styled hair and swing dresses from the 1950’s. She found her way of expressing herself and kept it strong for the world to see.

“Once you can express yourself, you can tell the world what you want from it.”

~ Jacqueline Kennedy

Since the 1960’s women have been trying to replicate the chic style of the famous Jackie O. Now in the modern age where technology rules the world you can also achieve the Jackie O.

Simple is key but throwing in a splash of color or pattern is perfect to catch attention. Animal print is always a fun alternative. Pairing an eye catching jacket over a simple black blouse and pants is a great go to outfit for almost any occasion. It can easily be switched up by throwing in a print skirt for some pattern on pattern. Adding flashy jewelry in the same color palette will tie the entire outfit together.

Jackie herself was seen wearing a dashing leopard print coat. She paired it with a simple dress or black top underneath. She looked stunning walking with all the confidence in the world, comfortable in her own style. It’s easy to achieve the Jackie O. Take a tip from Mrs. Kennedy, keep things tasteful but don’t be afraid to throw in some pattern or colorful accessories, big sunglasses and jazzy jewelry are always fun and most importantly just be yourself.
